"I like to start my notes to you as if we’re already in the middle of a conversation. I pretend that we’re the oldest and dearest friends..." Kathleen Kelly by Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail

The big news on the street regarding my blog, A Cheeky Girl---is that we were approved for the LIKEtoKNOWit shopping app! Here are some FAQs regarding my blog and our recent milestone of joining LIKEtoKNOWit!

Question 1

What is the deal with the app anyway and why do you see the hashtag #liketkit on everything these days?

The app allows images to be enabled as "Shoppable". Click here to see the app we're chatting about. Once the app is downloaded, Instagram users simply need to take a screenshot of my LIKEtoKNOWit enabled images, open the LIKEtoKNOWit app, click the cutie heart icon and TADA! You will find all of the details on promoted posts... down to my earrings, lipstick and shoes-you'll have every link at your fingertips. When my links from the app are used to make purchases, I earn a small commission at no additional cost to the buyer. Its a WIN-WIN!

Question 2

OKay OKay OKay the app is fun, but why would it matter if readers had access to all of these links anyway?

As a small business owner and new blogger, this opportunity for revenue from affiliate marketing is incredibly meaningful. I am certainly dedicated to bringing important blog posts to my readers on topics of event planning, motherhood, fashion, beauty, must read books, having a spouse with a demanding career and beyond. The opportunity to earn revenue on affiliate links is one that I don't take lightly- I am excited as ever to promote products to A Cheeky Girl readers that are fabulous and made by fabulous companies. I also do my best to promote Oklahoma owned, female led and environmentally conscious brands when possible.

Question 3

Why would I bother to click a blogger's link for an item to purchase online instead of going directly to an online retailer to shop?

Blogs are small businesses working to bring something unique & meaningful to the marketplace for the benefit of readers. I hope you'll be encouraged to use a blogger's links to help support their platforms and allow the continuation of their creative pursuit. Yes, it may seem like nothing but selfies and cheesy boomerang videos on instagram (and sometimes it is-long live Pumpkin Spice Lattes) However, I assure you that most bloggers are genuinely working on building brands with the intent to spark creativity, encourage readers and cultivate community... I digress, the point I was trying to make it that using these links help support the cause. Plus, it is no added cost to the buyer-so help a girl out.

Question 4

Are blogs in the product or services category as small businesses anyway?

My professional journey runs the gamut-which I think is commonplace for entrepreneurs. I plan events, provide freelance marketing services as well as blog my little heart out. A blog lives in the product category at times as content may provide shoppable links to unique & suggested products. Blogs also live in the services category --I just love writing providing readers with my unique insights. My insights- which aren't usually profound (trying to keep it light around here), usually cheeky-never political and aspiring to be inspiring!

*Another exciting addition! As a new LIKEtoKNOWit member, I can easily embed shoppable images to my blog. Checkout the below beauty products if you need some sparkle this holiday season!
